Joy Comes With The Morning

Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning. – Psalm 30:5

In November of 2022, I lost two of my dearest Aunts. Both passed away from different ailments two days apart. It was a painful time for my entire family, but more so for my cousins who no longer had a mom. As I watched them navigate this new reality, my heart broke. Losing someone you love is never easy, and the pain of losing two family members left us weeping and overwhelmed by sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion.

This verse from Psalm 30:5 is a reminder that even though we may experience difficult times and feel like we are in the midst of darkness, there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow. Just as the sun rises each day and dispels the darkness of night, our sorrows will eventually give way to joy and happiness. It reminds us that no matter how bad our circumstances may seem, they are only temporary and that joy and peace will come in due time.

David, the writer of Psalm 30:5, experienced as many ups and downs, triumphs and sorrows as anyone in life. As a shepherd, fugitive, exile, father, and king, he had seen it all and was certainly no stranger to the unexpected and unpredictable nature of life. Yet he testifies that any pain, anxiety, and struggle he would face were only temporary, and joy comes with the morning.

I don’t know what you are going through today, whether you are mourning the loss of a loved one, or fighting some sickness or disease. Whatever you are facing, may you find comfort in knowing that even when you face trials and tribulations, joy comes with the morning. We can trust that God is always with us and that He will never abandon us in our time of need.

Reflection:
How can you apply this verse to help you have a more positive outlook on life and its challenges?

Let Us Pray:

God of Joy, Thank you for the reminder that no matter what we might be going through now, joy comes with the morning. Today we trust that you are always with us and will never abandon us in our time of need.

Amen

Blessed Love,

Ontonio Christie
